Montreal, QC – Canadian swimming’s past Olympic heroes share their Olympic trials experiences this week, helping to encourage the 2008 Olympic & Paralympic hopefuls who are competing in Montreal April 1-6th at Olympic Park Pool.

Beth Hazel

Beth Hazel was a national team member for 4 years, attended the University of Florida and swam under Coach Paul Midgely.

In 1992, Beth competed at the Olympic Games in Barcelona where she swam the 200m backstroke in 2:17.70 and finished 25th overall.

“A lot of swimmers will probably talk about how amazing it felt to touch the wall and look up at the clock and know that they had realized their dreams. For me, the magical moment was putting on the maple leaf tracksuit and standing beside my team-mates as the announcer introduced us to the crowd as “Canada’s Olympic Swimming Team”. I was at once a very proud member of a very exclusive group.”
