CALGARY, AB – 2008 Olympic Team member Annamay Pierse of Edmonton smashed two national records last weekend during a two-day slingshot speed meet in Calgary.
Pierse, who trains at the National Swim Center in Vancouver under the tutelage of breaststroke master Josef Nagy, bettered her record of 1:07.12 in the 100m short course breaststroke event set at the 2008 CIS Championships when she clocked a time of 1:06.63 in Calgary.
Pierse went on to clip the sprint breast standard set by Erica Morningstar with a 31.45 at the 2008 Speedo Western Championships in Victoria when she posted a 31.00 during the second evening of swimming.
In two weeks from now, Pierse will be traveling with fellow UBC Dolphins teammates to compete at the 2008 Canada Cup in Etobicoke.
