Vancouver’s Donovan Tildesley smashed his own World Record in the S11 category of the men’s 1500m freestyle this morning at the 2008 SWAD Can-Am Swimming Championships in Victoria, BC.

Tildesley clocked 19:02.11 to eclipse his previous mark of 19:51.12 set in 2005. 

Five more Canadian records fall
Jenna Skieneh of Windsor broke the women’s 200m butterfly Canadian record in the S9 category in a time of 3:07.37.

  The previous record was held by Katarina Roxon in a time of 3:07.66 set at the German Open in 2008. 

Cynthia Berringer of Mississauga broke the women’s 50m breaststroke Canadian record in the SB5 category clocking 1:11.68.  The previous record was set in 1993 by Linda Cairns in a time of 1:13.40. 

Jacqueline Rennebohm of Regina broke her own Canadian record in the women’s SB12 category of the 50m breaststroke.  Rennebohm clocked 44.24 to break her previous record of 44.91 set in 2007. 

Kyle McMahon broke two Canadian records this morning in preliminary heats.  In the men’s SB7 category, McMahon broke the 50m breaststroke record in a time of 47.35.  The previous record was 47.69 set in 1996 by Tony Alexander.

McMahon also set a new Canadian record in the men’s SB7 category of the men’s 200m breaststroke clocking 3:44.97.  There was no previous record set in this category.
