CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos men’s and women’s teams put on an impressive display in their home pool on Friday night at their annual Invitational meet.

The meet attracted the UBC Thunderbirds, University of Alberta Bears and Pandas and the University of Manitoba Bisons.

On the men’s side, the Dinos finished first with 330 points, UBC 2nd with 256.5, Alberta 3rd with 162.50 points and the Manitoba Bisons finished 4th with 74.

On the women’s side the Dinos finished with 320 points, 64 ahead of second-place UBC (256). Alberta (140) and Manitoba (116) filled out the standings.

“Both our rookies and our veterans performed admirably but the CIS Championships will be a tougher meet then this and we will have to be even sharper,” said Dinos coach Mike Blondal, who led the Dinos men to the national title in 2008. “However, this provided some good insights into our strengths and weaknesses and we can make some adjustments as we prepare for CIS champs. It will be an exciting year!”
