Alberta swimmers were swimming tough at the Paul Bergin meet in the USA this weekend with a total of twelve provincial records being broken.
In the 15-17 year olds 400 IM it was Swim Alberta’s oldest record that was broken by Deanna Matthews of the Olympian Swim Club who took down the 1977 record set by Olympic silver Medalist Cheryl Gibson.

Matthews also broke her own record in the 200 back twice, once in prelims and then in finals. Her new record stands at 2:10.08. The OSC ladies also broke provincial relay records taking down the 4 x 200 FR and the 4 x 100 MR for the 15-17 age category.
Also picking up a string of records over the weekend was Cascade’s Brooklyn Snodgrass who broke the 100 back, and 200 back (twice) provincial records for 13-14 year olds women.
Other records over the weekend belong to; Natasha Fung, Bobbie Mielnichuk, Shaneese Nowlan, Madison Mills of Olympian Swim Club, Brooklynn Snodgrass, Karl Wolk, Chad Bobrosky, Tom Krywitsky and Thomas Jobin of Cascade Swim Club, Rachel Nicol Lethbridge Amateur Swim Club and James Goodway of the Calgary Patriots.
