“Our hopes for the season is to make provincials, for sure,” comments UBC Heat’s #11 Dustin Luck (4th year, Kelowna, BC). “We’ve [as the Heat] never actually made it before, and I think we’re in a really strong position to do it, so just play hard the rest of the season here, get a few more wins and then make it to BCs.”

[The team qualified for a provincial championships once before in 1998 flying under the banner of the Okanagan University College Lakers.]

Luck continues, “UNBC is a good team; they’re going to CIS next year so they’re going to be very competitive. We just have to keep playing how we’ve been playing. We’ve had a few unlucky results lately but we’re coming together as a team really well and I think that we will be able to get a good result this weekend against UNBC and hopefully bring home the win.”

The Heat will host Quest University Kermodes (1-3-2) and Langara College Falcons (2-2-2) on UBC’s Okanagan campus next weekend, Oct. 15-16, game times : Saturday at 3:00 P.M. and Sunday at 2:00 P.M. The Heat will then finish the PacWest season on the road the following weekend with important Group B matchup’s versus the VIU Mariners (4-1-1) and the Capilano Blues (2-3-1).
