Weekend Results

The women’s results was the bright spot for the club on the weekend, winning their game against Comox 53-14. The men struggled, with the A’s and B’s losing to JBAA 69-0 and 41-8. The 3rds also lost, going down 39-17 vs Nanaimo.

Coming Up

This coming Saturday, the Elite squad is at home against the Vikes, and the 1sts are at home against the Jutes in the first round of the Cowichan Cup round robbin competition. The women travel to Port Alberni, and on Sunday the 3rds are host to Cowichan.

On Saturday the club is also hosting a Meet and Greet. There are plenty of new faces on the mens’ teams: have you had a chance to meet them? We’d like to invite all alumni and supporters to come to Saturday’s matches, enjoy some rugby, food and drinks, and an opportunity to socialize with the squads before and after their games.

If the weather is nice, this will take place on the upstairs deck, otherwise in the clubhouse:

1pm – coffee and Timbits by El Presidente Brian Beglau

3pm – homemade chili and buns provided by Christel and Lori, as well as delicious salmon by Eric White.

The food will be by donation to cover costs.

The club is hosting a huge costume party Saturday night! DJ, costume prizes, and drink specials! Doors open at 9pm.

Quiz Night

The Valkyries are putting on a quiz night this Thursday, starting at 8.45pm. Teams of 2-4 people, $5 a person. Big cash prize for the winners. Come out and support the club, have a few drinks and show everyone how well your top 2 inches works.

16 committed lads traveled to Windsor Park to take on CW cast of thousands. They played a well structured game completing many phases of play only to turn over & the speedy CW backs would score. But with so many boys out of position they did very well grinding out 3 tries showing a never give up attitude.

Regional 7’s

This last week, four players from the Velox U-15 squad represented the club on the South Island rep squad at the Regional 7’s tournament on the Mainland. Congratulations to Gavin Kohut, Alexander Va’a, Logan Fee, and Josh Graffi on helping the team place 3rd in the tournament, including an 18-19 loss to the eventual tournament winner.
