Brandon, MB. — The Brandon Wheat Kings will have to do without veteran left-winger Darian Dziurzynski this weekend.

The Western Hockey League has slapped the former Saskatoon Blade with a 2-game suspension.

Dziurzynski has been suspended for two games for the charging major and game misconduct he incurred in the final minute of Brandon’s 7-3 victory in Swift Current on Tuesday night.

The WHL decision means that the 20-year old Lloydminster product will miss this weekend’s games against Calgary (Friday) and Medicine Hat (Saturday). However, will will be eligible to return to the Wheat Kings’ lineup on Tuesday night when Brandon travels to Saskatoon.

Tuesday’s game will be the first between the two teams since Brandon obtained the Phoenix Coyotes’ draft choice last month.

In eleven games this season, Dziurzynski has nine goals and 23 minutes in penalties. During his 4-year WHL career, he has scored 71 goals and 124 points in 250 games.

Dziurzynski’s suspension pushed the total in the WHL this season to 34 players, for a total of 101 games.
