The Mount Douglas Rams gave a befitting regular season send off to a reported 18 graduating players Friday night at City Centre Stadium taking on the hapless Carson Graham AAA high school of North Vancouver.
Rams fans, wrapped in blankets as the stadium lights lit and temperature dropped, were treated to a comfortable 37-13 win on the back of another dominate running game from Terrell Davis. Davis, a Washington State Univeristy recruit, leads the AAA high school standings averaging 136 yds. per game going into Friday nights scrimmage. The game would open with a touchdown by Rams 6 foot, 200 pound running back #22 Mason Swift. The Rams would add a safety before Carson Graham would narrow the lead with their games only major score. Terrell Davis would run for 2 of Mount Doug’s additional 3 touchdowns on the half. The Rams would go into the locker room at the half with a 30-7 cushion. As the second half progressed, Rams head coach, Mark Townsend, comfortable with the lead, would his starters sparingly, substituting his reserves, appearing to give them some playing experience.
The Carson Graham team showed some spark, as #11 Isaac Birch started to find some open real estate, but was unable to find the end zone against the Rams defensive line, having to settle for the uprights with 2 field goals. Rams Taylor Young would score the games final points with a touchdown on a Jordan Deverill 17 yard pass and run play to find the corner of the end zone.
The Mount Douglas Rams would walk off the field waiting for their playoff opponent, enjoying a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The Rams, ranked #4 in the province, finished the regular season Friday night with a 4-1 record in the AAA High School Western Conference and 2nd place in their division.
