The Vancouver Giants improved to a 8-1-0-0 all time vs. Edmonton, defeating the Oil Kings 4-1 Wednesday night at the Pacific Coliseum. Taylor Makin, making his home debut in a Giants uniform, had 3 assists, while Adam Morrison made 22 saves for his 10th win of the season.

After failing to score on a couple of early power plays the Giants managed to get on the board with just over 7 minutes left in the opening period as Cain Franson tipped home Taylor Makin’s shot to beat Laurent Brossoit to put the home side up 1-0. Jackson Houck would chip in with his 3rd goal of the season to give the Giants a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes.

Edmonton got on the board just past the midway point of the second period; Griffin Reinhart banged home a rebound to cut the lead to 2-1. That is how things would stay after two periods.

Looking for the all important insurance goal in the third period, Jordan Martinook would clutch up beating Brossoit for his 10th goal of the season to put the Giants up 3-1. Nathan Burns would add an empty netter, snapping his 15 game goalless drought to make it a 4-1 final. Morrison made 22 saves for the victory. The one down side in the win was the Giants power play which finished 0-for-8 on the night; however, they killed off all 4 Edmonton power plays.

The Giants are back in action on Saturday when they play host to the Kelowna Rockets at 7:00 pm at the Pacific Coliseum. The pregame show begins at 6:30 pm on AM 650.
