Vancouver Giants Hammer Victoria 11-3

The Vancouver Giants won their 5th straight game hammering the Victoria Royals 11-3 Friday night at the Pacific Coliseum in front of 8,450 fans. Dalton Sward and Neil Manning each registered their first career hat tricks, while Marek Tvrdon led all scorers with 5 points. The Giants are now 5-2-0-0 vs. the Royals this season.

As has been the case this season, the Giants came out flying in the opening period, outshooting Victoria 23-5. Dalton Sward kicked things off with his 6th goal of the season to put the Giants up 1-0. Neil Manning scored on the power play to give the home side a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes.

The Giants poured it on the second period, scoring 6 goals, including 4 on the power play. Manning and Tvrdon each scored a pair of goals, while Sward and Taylor Makin, with his first goal as a Giant, scored singles. Keith Hamilton was pulled from the Royals net after giving up 4 goals on 26 shots and replaced by Jared Rathjen. Vancouver led 8-0 through 40 minutes.

Brendan Gallagher got into the act in the third period with his team leading 19th goal of the season. He also had 3 assists on the evening. Cain Franson and Sward rounded out the scoring for the Giants. Adam Morrison’s night ended after his shutout bid was broken. He allowed 1 goal on 12 shots. Jackson Whistle came in and played just over 12 minutes giving up 2 goals on 7 shots. The final scored was 11-3. The Giants finished 5-for-7 on the power play, while the Royals went 0-for-5.

The Giants are back in action tomorrow night when they make the trip to Everett to take on the Silvertips. Game time is 7:05 pm. The pregame show begins at 6:30 pm on AM 650.
