In PACWEST volleyball action this afternoon, the Camosun College Chargers women ended their double-header weekend against the Douglas College Royals with a five-set win. Despite taking a set off the ninth nationally ranked Royals, the Camosun men suffered yet another loss and went down in four.

The Chargers women hold a record of 7-5 while the men are now 4-8.

Camosun 3 – 2 Douglas

(23-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-21, 18-16)

Camosun’s Elizabeth Davis, last season’s Rookie of the Year, led today’s win scoring a huge 24 points and 23 digs! Second-year leftside Mariah Holmstrom (Campbell River) contributed 15 points and 17 digs.

Men’s Scores

Douglas 3 – 1 Camosun

(16-25, 25-20, 25-11, 25-17)

Third-year leftside Stephen Richter (White Rock) produced 14 kills and 5 digs while second-year rightside Jon Joerstad (Oslo, Norway) came in with 11 kills and 13 digs.

The Chargers volleyball teams return to the road next weekend to take on the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford.
