This past Friday at Bear Mountain Stadium, it was another great day for Mount Douglas Rams Football. In the early game, the JV Rams defeated Lord Tweedsmuir by a score of 34 to 15 and now advance to the Provincial Semi-Finals against Terry Fox…more details from Coach Dave.

Following the big JV victory, the Varsity team squared off against Lord Tweedsmuir. In the end, it was the ground and pound attack that paved that way for a huge 42 to 29 Varsity win and the first ever Provincial Semi-Final berth at the AAA level for the Varsity Rams. The boys will now face the “Beast from the East” STMC.

Playing their best game of the year, the Offensive Line were tremendous all day, opening up some great running lines for the running back duo of Terrell Davis and Mason Swift who did the rest. Terrell and Mason each rushed for over 150 yards, and when they went rumbling downfield , that were delivering devastating blocks from one another…a tremendous team effort. All 6 touchdowns for the Rams came on then ground as Terrell Davis had 2 rushing majors plus a 95 yard kickoff return to the house, Jordan Deverill had 2 TD runs and Mason Swift opened the scoring with a touchdown of his won. Callum Duke was stellar again going 6 for 6 in convert kicks.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams were able to keep Mike Messenger and “his moments” in check during the contest and limit his big play potential. Arguable the turning point in the game came in the 4th quarter with the Rams ahead 35 to 21 but with Tweendsmuir in possession of the football and moving downfield…Taylor Young snuffed out the drive with a highlight reel interception and return. Six plays later the Rams were in the end zone and had a 42 to 21 lead.

Tremendous team effort fellas in a very tough, physical game in which you proved to be the better and more discipline team…your “Attitude” and “Effort” paved the way for success and the victory. This week’s theme against STMC is “Whatever It Takes”
