In PACWEST basketball action tonight, the Camosun College Chargers were overpowered by the Nationally ranked Vancouver Island University Mariners and and fell in both games in double digits.

The Chargers women are now 3-2 while the men are 4-1 after being handed their first loss of the season.

Leading the Chargers in points tonight was second-year wing/point Aija Salvador (Oak Bay) who posted 12 pts and 5 rebounds.

Shayna Worthington from the Mariners led her team to the win with 15 pts and 9 rebounds.

Newcomer Trevor Shcheurmann from Winnipeg (forward) was tops in points for Camosun tonight with 17 pts and 4 rebounds. First-year forward James Blanford (Stelly’s) followed with 14 pts and 11 rebounds.

Jacob Thom from VIU led the Mariners with 25 pts and 6 rebounds.

The Chargers end the first half of the 2011-12 season with a trip up to Prince George next Saturday (December 3) to take on the University of Northern BC Timberwolves. Women play at 6pm; Men at 8pm.
