This past Saturday at UBC, the Mount Douglas Varsity Rams shocked previously undefeated and No.1 ranked STMC by a score of 54 to 7. With the victory, the Rams advance to the Varsity AAA Subway Bowl against WJ Mouat on Saturday December 3, 2011 at 7:00 pm at BC Place Stadium. The game will also be broadcast on TV. The JV Rams will be playing for the AAA JV Championship also at BC Place Stadium against STMC…time TBA.
The Varsity Rams dominated STMC in all 3 facets of the game, namely offence, defence and special teams, putting forth far and away their best effort of the season stunning the Knights and their fans. The Rams never trailed in the game, employing a ground and pound attack interspersed with some timely passes. The 1st quarter score saw the Rams leading 14 to 0, which was extended to 27 to 7 at the half, and 47 to 7 by the end of the 3rd quarter. Terrell Davis and Mason Swift led the charge with 3 touchdowns a piece, while Marcus Davis chipped in with a 34 yard TD run of his own. On the ground, Terrell Davis had 14 carries for 163 yards, while Mason Swift powered his to 75 yards on 14 carries. Mason also scored a major as his scooped up a blocked punt by Nik Larsen. Jordan Deverill hit Taylor Young on a 25 yard passing play to open the scoring for the Rams. Callum Duke kicked 6 of 8 converts.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams limited the high powered STMC offense and Mike Carney to a single score. Marcus Davis had an impact on the defensive side of the ball as well and his intercepted an STMC deep pass late in the 2nd quarter.
Tremendous effort fellas, the best effort ever by a Mount Douglas Football team against a highly talented STMC squad team.

The 2011 Subway All Stars Awards Banquet is on Tuesday November 29th at the Croatian Cultural Centre located at 3250 Commercial Drive, Vancouver and BC High School Football provides each Varsity team making it to the final 40 complimentary tickets to the banquet. To that, the Varsity Rams will be attending this event with a bus leaving the school at 1:45 pm on Tuesday November 29th, walking on the 3 pm ferry and bussing to the event. As this banquet will not end until after 9:00 pm, the team will be staying overnight and then catching an early ferry back to Victoria on Wednesday November 30th. Again, please note that these tickets are complimentary to the Varsity players and staff…additional tickets by interested families members can be purchased for $75 each via http://www/bchighschoolfootball.com/bcfootball/banquet/index.htm
o Players and Varsity Staff, please confirm your attendance by contacting our Team Manager Kathleen Ross.
o Players are asked to wear dress pants, shirt & tie and their football jerseys to the event (no runners).
o Also, please use the same forms we used for this weekend for the banquet event on Tuesday.
o We are asking players to pay to $25 each to cover the cost of overnight accommodations.
Players, please ensure that you return all game jerseys to practice at Mount Douglas on Monday.
Finally, Ron Dias will be hosting End of the Year Combines in BC and we are pleased to host the Victoria Combine at Mount Douglas on Tuesday December 6th from 8 pm to 10 pm in the gym. The combine is open to all players currently in grade 9, 10, 11 or 12. No equipment is necessary but you will require indoor running shoes. Athletic testing will include the 10 yard sprint, 40, broad jump, pro shuttle and forward turn and run. The cost of the combine is $30.
