Brandon Wheat Kings
Brandon, Manitoba – Tip Top Tailors, in conjunction with the Brandon Wheat Kings have announced their Player of the Month winner for November and he’s a 17-year old defenceman in his second Western Hockey League season.
Beauval, Saskatchewan product Eric Roy is enjoying a stellar sophomore season with the Wheat Kings and in thirteen games last month, the 6’3″ 190 lb blueliner scored one goal and 14 points to move past teammate Ryan Pulock and into the league lead for scoring among defencemen.
A former first round bantam draft choice of the Wheat Kings, Roy enters Friday’s game against the visiting Red Deer Rebels with 30 points, including five goals in 29 games. Only linemates Mark Stone, Brenden Walker and Michael Ferland have scored more for the WHL club this season.
Roy becomes the second Tip Top Tailors Player of the Month winner for the 2011-12 campaign, joining Stone, who captured the first award for leading the league in scoring through September and October.
In recognition of the monthly honour, he will receive a shirt, tie and suit from Tip Top Tailors in the Shoppers Mall, the official menswear clothier of the Wheat Kings. This is the first time in his short WHL career that he has captured this award.
Roy, Stone. Walker and Ferland will be taking a 17-10-1-1 record into this weekend’s home games against the Rebels and Regina Pats. Friday’s game vs Red Deer will feature the annual Shoppers Mall Teddy Bear Toss, in support of Christmas Cheer.
Tickets to both weekend games are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca
