The Saanich Braves win streak was halted at seven as they went down to defeat to the Kerry Park Islanders by a score of 3-1 in VIJHL action Thursday evening.

The Islanders built a 3-0 lead on goals by Jake Newman, Cole Thomson and Alex Milligan before Nick Vanstone finally responded late in the third for the Braves.

Tanner McGaw was in net for the Braves and faced 36 shots, while his Islanders counterpart Matt Chester faced 29 shots in getting the win.

Despite the loss, the Braves are 8-2 in their last ten games and have moved up to third place overall in the VIJHL standings, just three points back of second place Comox.

The Braves will look to make up some of that ground and begin a new streak Friday night when they host the tough Glacier Kings at 6:30 pm at Pearkes Arena.
