Calgary, AB – Rookie Victor Rask scored a pair of goals, including the overtime game winner, to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 3-2 win over the Spokane Chiefs Friday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.
The Hitmen headed into the third period with a 2-0 lead on goals from Rask and Alex Gogolev, before Spokane quickly drew even early in the frame when Brenden Kichton and Darren Kramer each netted one for the visitors.
Chris Driedger made 19 saves in the Hitmen net, including 12 in the third period, as Calgary outshot the Chiefs 30-21 in the victory.
Calgary, now 15-11-1-1 on the season, hosts the Medicine Hat Tigers on Sunday, Dec. 4 in the 17th annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss. Suncor Energy is the proud owner of Petro-Canada.
Game time is 4:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome. Fans are encouraged to come early and are asked to bring a new small or medium sized stuffed toy and toss it onto the ice when the Hitmen score their first goal.
This year more than 25,000 teddy bears have been requested by over 50 local agencies including the Alberta Children’s Hospital, the Cerebral Palsy Association, Boys and Girls Clubs and the Salvation Army. Since 2000, the Hitmen have donated more than 157,000 bears to the Calgary community.
