The Vancouver Giants defeated the Regina Pats 4-1 Friday night at the Brandt Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan to pick up their 18th win of the season and improve to 3-1-1-0 on their 6 game Eastern Division road swing. The Giants are now 10-2-0-0 all-time vs. the Pats.

After a scoreless opening period in which the Giants outshot Regina 10-2, the Pats opened the scoring just over 7 minutes into the 2nd period to lead 1-0. However, the Giants were able to get the equalizer just past the midway point of the period as Taylor Makin scored his 5th goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1. That is how things would stay through 40 minutes.

In the third period, Cain Franson forced a turnover, was stopped on a wrap around, but Matt Bellerive banged home the rebound for his 3rd goal of the year to give the Giants a 2-1 lead. 36 seconds later Jordan Martinook snapped home his 16th goal of the season to give the Giants a two goal advantage. Martinook is running hot these days with 6 goals in his last 5 games. Brendan Gallagher added an empty netter for his 23rd goal of the year to complete the victory; 4-1 was the final. Adam Morrison made 19 saves for the victory in net.

The Giants wrap up their road trip tomorrow night in Swift Current vs. the Broncos. Game time is 5:00 pm PST. The pregame show begins at 4:30 pm PST on AM 650.
