The Prince George Cougars defeated the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 on Saturday night at Prospera Place, scoring an early-third period goal to snap a 2-2 tie.

Alex Forsberg scored 34 seconds into the third period to give Prince George the win, the first time in five meetings this season the Cougars have beaten Kelowna.

Brett Bulmer and Carter Rigby scored for the Rockets, whose record falls to 11-14-2-1. Adam Brown faced 31 shots in net for the Rockets, who managed just 18 against the Cougars.

Campbell Elynuik and Cody Carlson had the other goals for Prince George.

The Rockets close out its seven game home stand on Wednesday night when the Lethbridge Hurricanes come to Prospera Place. Following that game the Rockets will head out for six straight on the road before Christmas. Kelowna returns to Prospera Place following the WHL’s Christmas break on Dec. 27.
