Jeff HarrisVictoria, BC – The Victoria Royals Hockey Club would like to congratulate forward Kevin Sundher on signing a three-year NHL entry level contract with the Buffalo Sabres.
Sundher was drafted by the Sabres in the third round, 75th overall of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He becomes the first player in Royals’ team history to sign an NHL entry level contract.
“This is a great day in my hockey career,” Sundher said. “Signing my first pro contract was a goal of mine coming into this season, and I’m honoured to be a part of the Buffalo Sabres organization. I would like to thank my teammates and the Victoria Royals franchise for helping me get to this point in my career.”

Sundher was originally drafted by the Chilliwack Bruins in the first round, 7th overall in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft. The native of Surrey, B.C. has gone on to become the franchise scoring leader with 230 points (89g+141a) in 248 games played. He is currently in his fifth season with the franchise and has 21 goals and 32 assists for 53 points in 33 games. He has improved his point totals each season, finishing the 2010-2011 campaign with a career high 72 pts (24g+52a).
“Kevin is an excellent hockey player who has worked hard to get to this point,” Head Coach and General Manager Marc Habscheid said. “His commitment to improving himself as both a hockey player and a person has been outstanding and today is an exciting day for both him and our organization.”
The Victoria Royals are in Southern Alberta to play two games against the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Medicine Hat Tigers.
