Vancouver, BC: The British Columbia Rugby Union will be running the annual Coaching Clinic and Professional Development Course on the weekend of January 21st and 22nd, 2012. All events will again be hosted on the campus of St. George’s School in Vancouver.

On Saturday, January 21 registrants can select one of two streams:

1. IRB 7s Coach Course Stream:

Run by former 7s National Coach, international veteran and current manager of BC Rugby provincial youth 7s program Shane Thompson; attendees will at the completion of the course be IRB CERTIFIED in coaching 7s rugby. This additional certification is a must have for all coaches. Content will enhance the coach’s tool box in both the 7s and XVs versions of rugby.

2. Practical Workshop Stream:

Several of Canada’s leading coaches will be on hand to lead sessions that offer a personalized coaching environment. All on-field, off-field and Q & A sessions are designed to provide practical knowledge for today’s coach, and will include drills, strategies and tactics currently used by leading rugby nations.

Sunday January 22nd will feature insightful Canadian Rugby World Cup and International 7s players for a session on “The Modern Player’s Perspective: building successful teams & the attributes of a great coach”.

Cost is $125 + HST ($140.00) for those who sign up by January 13th and $140 + HST ($156.80) for registrations after that.
