Brandon, MB. — The Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that 16-year old center Tim McGauley has been recalled from the Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.

A former first round bantam draft choice of the Western Hockey League’s Saskatoon Blades, McGauley is expected to be with the Wheat Kings for the holiday season as Brandon will be without three of its players.

A 5’11” 170 lb native of Wilcox, Saskatchewan, McGauley began the season in Brandon and played two games for the Wheat Kings before being assigned to Notre Dame at the end of September.

In 25 games with the Hounds this season, McGauley is averaging close to a goal per game with 22. He also has thirteen assists for 35 points.

The Wheat Kings, who play back to back home games this week before closing out the week with a New Years Day game in Saskatoon, are currently missing captain Mark Stone, left-winger Alessio Bertaggia and rookie blueliner Ayrton Nikkel.

While Stone and Bertaggia are skating with Team Canada and the Swiss U20 teams respectively at the World Junior Hockey Championship, Nikkel is a member of Team Pacific at the World Under 17 Challenge in Windsor, Ontario.

McGauley will be one of two new faces in the Brandon lineup on Wednesday night when the Wheat Kings play host to the Regina Pats. Joining him will be netminder Curtis Honey. The 17-year old Edmonton product was recalled from Bonneyville of the Alberta Junior Hockey League on Friday to serve as a back-up to veteran Brandon Anderson. The Wheat Kings were forced to make the move when veteran Corbin Boes suffered a broken hand during a game in Edmonton earlier this month.

Due to the Christmas holidays, the Keystone Centre box office will be closed Monday and Tuesday, re-opening at 1pm Wednesday, December 28th. Puck drop Wednesday is 7pm.
