VANCOUVER – British Columbia’s next generation of Olympic and Paralympic champions are set to descend upon the former Vancouver 2010 Athletes’ Village this Saturday for a day of inspiration, education and networking. With over 75 athletes and 25 coaches participating, the third-annual Canadian Sport Centre Pacific Athlete Advance, sponsored by the Vancouver Parks Board and Vancouver Sport Network, boasts an exceptional roster of presenters, keynote speakers and Olympic and Paralympic Athlete Panellists.
To become the best in the country, or in the world, at any given sport takes extreme work ethic, perseverance and dedication to excellence. Canadian Sport Centre Pacific, and the network of PacificSport Centres throughout BC, work to support provincial and national sport organizations by providing athletes and coaches with services, education and opportunities to enhance their preparation and skills both on and off the field of play.
The Athlete Advance is a one-day conference featuring professional development seminars on sport psychology, recovery & regeneration, performance cooking, relaxation/visualization techniques, athlete branding/marketing and yoga, to name a few. With a keynote address from two-time Olympic medallist Silken Laumann kicking things off, the event includes eight new athlete session topics and for the first time ever, a coaching stream for BC’s provincial and national team coaches. The day wraps up with an athlete panel discussion about succession planning for sport and life featuring Paralympic record-setter Lauren Woolstencroft, and Olympians Jeff Christie and Alexandra Orlando.
Media are invited to attend the Opening Keynote and Athlete Panel for photo, broadcast and interview opportunities. Please review the entire schedule below, as individual interview requests can be arranged for all presenters and panellists.
