Rebels Release Cowen; He Stays As Assistant Coach

RED DEER, AB – Jesse Wallin, General Manager/Head Coach of the Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club, announced today that forward Josh Cowen has been released from the playing roster. He will remain with the team in an Assistant Coaching capacity.

With 20-year old defenceman Aaron Borejko coming off the injured reserve list, the Rebels’ are required to trim the roster to three, 20-year old (1991 born) players. Aaron Borejko, Deven Dubyk, and Justin Weller will be the team’s 20-year olds.

Cowen has played in 179 games with the Rebels over four seasons. He’s scored 18 goals and 30 assists for 48 career points, while adding 332 penalty minutes.
