The University of Saskatchewan Huskie women’s volleyball team is pleased to announce that Jennifer Hueser has made her commitment to join the squad for the 2012-13 season.

Hueser, a libero, will join her sister, Candace, as a member of the Huskies.

“I am very proud to be part of the Huskie team and to represent the U of S,” said Hueser. “An added bonus is playing with my sister Candace who has been a role model for me and whom I respect on and off the court. I was fortunate to have been coached by Jason Grieve this past summer and hope to have that opportunity again. It is exciting to know I will be part of the Huskies program as it continues to grow and I look forward to pushing myself to be the best I can.”

Hueser is the starting libero for Saskatoon’s Chaos 18U club team coached by Myron Mehler. With Chaos, last spring, she earned a 5th place finish at both the Las Vegas Classic and 17U Club Nationals. In August 2011, Hueser earned a bronze medal with Team Saskatchewan at the Western Canada Summer Games as the starting libero. At Dalmeny High School, in 2011, Jennifer was the captain and starting leftside for coach Glen Kehler’s senior girls team.

“Jenn will bring skill, determination and athleticism to the Huskie program,” said Huskie interim head coach Jason Grieve. “I learned, while working with her in the Provincial Team Program, that she copes well under pressure and is responsible in the libero role. She has put in a lot of work to earn the opportunity to be a Huskie and I have no doubt she will continue to invest in herself at the UofS.”

The last time the Hueser sisters were teammates was in 2008 at SHSAA’s 4A Provincial Championships.

Hueser will be in the stands and introduced to fans inbetween the second and third set on Saturday night at the Huskies game. Fellow recruit Erin Guillemin, an outside hitter from Saskatoon, announced in November will join Hueser.

The Huskies face the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Friday and Saturday. Match time is 6 p.m. at the PAC each night. Saturday’s match will be webcast at
