The Mariners and Lee Hamilton came out strong on Friday night, defeating the Douglas College Royals 3-0. Hamilton had a big night in the middle registering 11 Kills, 2 Blocks and 2 Digs in the 3 set match. He was a huge offensive threat which gave the Mariners outside swingers a lot more one on one blocking opportunities to score. His offensive prowess was in fine from after hitting at an outstanding 81% efficiency and his leadership on the court was another strong factor in the Mariners positive result.


In Saturday’s rematch, the Mariners came out on the losing end of a 3-2 result. Hamilton had another strong match with 12 Kills, 3 Blocks, 2 digs and 1 ace. He worked a lot harder to get his offensive opportunities on Saturday as the Royals keyed on him all afternoon. The Royals made it hard for Hamilton to get his sets as they served much better and made it very difficult for the Mariners serve receive. The Mariners came out strong the first two sets but found the Royals fighting to protect their home court in the last three. Douglas College would win the match to salvage a weekend split with the Mariners.
