University of Saskatchewan freshman Dalyce Emmerson tallied her sixth double-double of the season en route to a 92-55 Huskies’ win over the UBC Okanagan Heat Friday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.

The post from Prince Albert, Sask., tallied a game-high 17 points and 11 rebounds, hitting 7-of-10 field goals and was perfect from the line. Emmerson scored 13 of the points in the second half.

After the teams matched each other point for point, the Huskies began to pull away at the six-minute mark of the first quarter and never looked back. Saskatchewan led the Heat 20-12 at the end of the first frame. They extended the gap to 42-26 by halftime.

Saskatchewan continued to pour the ball into the basket in the second half outscoring the Heat 26-14 in the third quarter and 24-15 in the fourth.

The Huskies showed depth on offence with four more Huskies scoring double digits on the night. Kabree Howard scored 14, followed by Kiera Lyons with 13. Fifth-year guards Mary Hipperson chipped in 12 and Amy Lackie tallied 11. Katie Miyazaki helped the Huskies’ on the boards with eight rebounds.

Roslyn Huber led the Heat with 13 points and four rebounds. Krystal Schouten added another 12 points UBC Okanagan.

Saskatchewan shot 59% in the game, while UBC Okanagan shot 36%. The Huskies also doubled the Heat on the boards outrebounding 40-22.

With the win the Huskies improve to 8-4 on the season and ride a three-game winning streak. UBC Okanagan, who joined the Canada West for the 2011-12 season, drops to 2-9. It is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

The Huskies will meet the Thompson Rivers WolfPack Saturday night, while the Heat travel to Edmonton to face the Alberta Pandas.
