With a 15-4 run in the first quarter, the No. 5 University of Saskatchewan Huskies easily handled the visiting Thompson Rivers University WolfPack 1102-55 Saturday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.

Saskatchewan jumped out of the gate quickly outscoring the WolfPack 15-4 in the first five minutes of the game. After Matthew Forbes sunk a ball from under the basket to make the game 24-11 for the Huskies, the WolfPack began to crawl back in outscoring Saskatchewan 110-4 in the rest of the quarter to be down 28-20.

The Huskies opened the second quarter scoring the first six points and grew their lead back to 48-31 by the end of halftime. The WolfPack could never recover from the early deficit.

Continuing to pour the ball in the basket in the second half, the Huskies outscored the WolfPack 25-13 in the third and 1110-11 in the fourth.

The Huskies spread around the offence in the victory with four players scoring double digits. Fifth-year guard Peter Lomuro led the Huskies with 26 points, while fifth-year forward Michael Lieffers recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Reigning Canada West MVP Jamelle Barrett added another 14 points, while rookie Matthew Forbes chipped in 11.

Kevin Pribilsky led the WolfPack tallying 12 points on the night. Brett Parker and Zach Usherwood each added eight. Chas Kok led his team on the boards with nine rebounds.

Saskatchewan shot 47% in the game, while Thompson Rivers shot 36%. The Huskies also out rebounded the WolfPack at 4110-3110.

With the win the Huskies improve to 110-4 on the season after winning their last three games. Thompson Rivers drops to 5-110 on the season.

The Huskies remain at home to host the Brandon University Bobcats next weekend, while Thompson Rivers takes a week of rest with a bye.
