After taking the lead late in the first quarter the No. 4 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies walked to a 70-62 win over the visiting Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Saturday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.

Diane Schuetze and the WolfPack had taken control of the first quarter. The Canada West leading scorer and rebounder tallied 16 points in the first frame including nine points in a row for the WolfPack for the lead.

Thompson Rivers led the game until a Amy Lackie three point shot from the left side of the arc at 3:41 in the first quarter gave the Huskies a 20-18 lead. Saskatchewan continued to hold the lead 24-23 at the end of the first and 44-38 at the end of the second. Schuetze finished the first half with 20 points.

Down 11 points with six minutes left in the game, the WolfPack tried to tighten the game with four straight points on jump shots from just inside the key. But the Huskies answered hitting two foul shots and then a Kabree Howard three-point shot from the top of the arc to seal the victory.

Fifth-year guard Katie Miyazaki led the Huskies on offence with 20 points, while rookie post Dalyce Emmerson tallied her seventh double-double of the season and fourth straight with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Lackie also chipped in on offence recording 11 points.
