Weekend Re-Cap (Jan. 20 & 21)
The Chargers volleyball teams concluded their two game weekend series against the Columbia Bible College Bearcats this past weekend with mixed results as the women collected a pair of losses and the men spilt, earning an exciting, barn-burning, five-set victory against the defending National Champions on Friday and then falling to the Cats in four on Saturday (find scores and team leaders on The Chargers Post). At 7-10, the Chargers women dropped down one spot to No. 5 in the PACWEST standings while the men advanced to No. 4 with 6 wins and 12 losses. Camosun volleyball takes a bye from PACWEST action this weekend and the teams return on February 3-4 to begin their last three weekends of league play before the PACWEST playoffs on February 23-25.
On the road, the Chargers basketball teams each suffered a heartbreaking loss on Friday night to the Langara College Falcons with the women losing by one point (52-51) in overtime and the men going down by a mere two, 68-66. It was a different story for the Chargers on Saturday with the teams chalking up a pair of convincing wins against the Kwantlen University Eagles; the women won 68-52 and the men took it 77-66. The Chargers men maintain their third place PACWEST standings with a 7-3 record while the women move up a spot to No. 5 at 4-6.
