The Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE), based in Victoria, BC, will host the 2nd Annual Canadian Strength and Conditioning Conference from March 3 – 4, 2012.

Keynote speaker is triathlete Paula Findlay, who will be competing in the Olympic Games in London. The two-day conference will also feature some of British Columbia’s expert strength coaches, athletic therapists, physiotherapists and nutritionists.

The opening presentation will be by Findlay, whose meteoric rise to the top of the World Championship triathlon rankings, earned her a birth to London. In 2010 she won on the 2012 Olympic course in London in her second ever World Championship Series (WCS) race. This was followed by a win in Kitzbuhel and a fifth place at the World Championships. In 2011 she won the Sydney and Madrid WCS races and successfully defended her title at Kitzbuhel.

Included in the conference will be sessions on functional training for strength and power, Olympic lifting, progressions in plyometric exercises, debunking sports supplement and nutrition claims, injury prevention and targeted conditioning for enhanced fitness performance. Sunday will be Physical Literacy Day with workshops on the Canadian Sport for Life model, practical sessions introducing fundamental movement skills, and best practices in teaching adults and children with a disability.

“PISE is proud to host the 2nd Annual Canadian Strength & Conditioning Conference. We have an incredible slate of speakers who are experts in the strength training world, as well as experts in physical literacy.
