RICHMOND, British Columbia – While a number of Trinity Western track and field athletes were competing in Manitoba’s Bison Classic, eight of the Spartans athletes were in Richmond for the Harry Jerome Indoor Classic Saturday at the Olympic Oval.
The Spartans, many of which were competing for the first time this season, were led by Chris Voth, who had a fifth place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:15.85.
In the 400m race, Adam Marchinkow was the Spartans top finisher as he was fourth overall in a time of 55:15. Christian Culp wasn’t far behind him, finishing fifth in 56.92.
Culp also raced in the 60m dash where he finished 10th in 7.73.
In the 800m, Ross Browne finished eighth in a time of 2:12.98.
Jake Powrie finished second, however he was competing against only one other athlete, in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.39.
On the women’s side, the Spartans had three athletes in the 60m dash.
Marie Beisterling was the top finisher, coming across the line in 8.40 for an 11th place finish, while Lisa Geck finished in 8.54 for 14th overall and Miranda Glenn posted a time of 8.84 and was 15th.
The Spartans will have their full complement of athletes in Seattle, Wash. next weekend as they will compete in the University of Washington Open Feb. 12.
