MacDonald Field was the meeting ground Saturday for the final leg of a two game test of the Uvic Vikes – James Bay Bays Challenge Trophy, with the home team James Bay winning Saturdays match 31-6, and the Challenge by a cumulative score of 53-19.
Both teams took to the field in the 1st half of the match playing mostly a defensive game as expected. With each team missing key players fulfilling Canadian National Team commitments. Both James Bay and the Vikes’ front line would create turnovers much of the 1st with UVic fullback Kane Wyatt drawing first blood on a penalty kick. JBAA would start to click late in the half, taking advantage of the younger UVic squad, talling a try by Hugo Belanger and Sean White conversions to lead 12-3 at the half.

UVic would come out in the second half hitting harder, and again looking to steal the momentum, scoring on another penalty kick to bring the side closer, but Canadian Sevens talents Thyssen de Goede would show his form adding 2 tries, and Sean White another conversion in the half. JBAA winger Pat Fraser would also contriute a try.
