Tofino surfer Emily Ballard hopes to turn pro and is looking for assistance in travelling to Australia for an upcoming competition.

Twenty-five year old Tofino surfer Emily Ballard is hoping to travel to the upcoming International Longboard Qualifying Series event in Australia and is holding a fundraiser on February 17th to help raise funds toward that goal

The contest is the first in a series of five events in the Series and if she does well, she will have a chance to compete in the World Longboard Tour in 2013. If successful, Emily would be the only Canadian competing at these events.

The “Beach Party” fundraiser will take place on Friday February 17th at the Old City Station Pub in downtown Nanaimo. Tickets are $10 and are available in advance only at the Coast Realty Group Downtown.  It is a 19+ event.  10% of all proceeds from the evening will go to the raincoast education Society in Tofino.
