Victoria, BC – February 14, 2012 (ISN) – Space is still available to register your child for the first Pro-D Day Camp of the year at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) which will be held on Friday, February 17 from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.
The camp is open to kids ages 5 – 10 and is designed to work on the overall development of fundamental movement, such as running, catching, kicking and throwing, as outlined in the Canadian Sport For Life model. PISE is based at Camosun College’s Interurban campus.
The camp is divided into two modules: Sporty Kids, ages 5-7; and Active Sport, ages 8-10. Sporty Kids works on the basic ABC’s (Agility, Balance and Coordination), utilizing different sports, games and drills to help develop physical literacy and participation. Active Sport builds on the ABC’s developing movement and sport skills with expert instruction in a range of sports that may include soccer, basketball, volleyball and badminton.
“We have room for 16 kids in our Pro-D Day Camp this Friday and kids can register up until Friday morning providing there is still room in the camp,” says Andrea Pask, Physical Literacy Coordinator. “If kids do register on Friday morning, they will need a parent with them as they will need to complete our paper work. We do offer the option to purchase pre- and post-care camp (7:30-8:30 am and 4:00-5:00 pm) as well as lunches.” Pask states that lunch orders must be submitted by Wednesday, February 15 at 4:00 pm in order to receive them on Friday.
The cost for the Pro-D Day Camp is $55 and you can register by calling 250-220-2510. More information is on www.piseworld.com. The second Pro-D Day Camp is Friday March 5. Registration is now also open for Spring Break Camp from March 19 – 23.
