Oak Bay, Claremont are Jr. Basketball Champs

Oak Bay and Claremont were the victors at the Lower Island Jr. Boys and Girl’s Basketball championship tournament completed Thursday at Claremont High.

 
Victoria (ISN) – The Oak Bay Jr. Girls and the Claremont Jr. Boys were the victors at the Lower Island Jr. Boys’ & Girls’ Basketball championship tournament completed Thursday at Claremont High School in Saanich.
 
In the Jr. Girls final, Oak Bay defeated Claremont in a nail-biter, 32-31.   Chloe Campbell was the Player of the Game for Oak Bay, while Mia Brooker took the honours for Claremont.  Tournament MV honours went to Morgan Rosskelly of Oak Bay.
 
In the Jr. Girl’s third place game, Pacific Christian defeated Stelly’s 46-41.
 
In Jr. Boys action, it was a complete reversal of the girl’s game, with the Claremont Spartans easily defeating Oak Bay 58-35.  Luke Collombin was named Player of the Game for Claremont, while teammate Alex Jordache was named Tournament MVP.  Noah Harris took home Player of the Game for Oak Bay.
 
In the third place game, Lambrick Park defeated SMUS 48-44.

In Senior Boys League play Thursday, Claremont defeated Stelly’s 59-43 on the strength of Mason Loewen’s 16 points, while Oak Bay pummelled Reynolds 84-23.
