(ISN) – The University of Victoria Vikes men’s soccer team tied Lynn University 1-1 in Boca Raton, Florida, on Thursday in hot, humid conditions.
After a scoreless opening half, host Lynn scored what Vikes head coach Bruce Wilson described as a “sloppy, sloppy goal” with the initial shot rebounding off three players before it bounced into the net.
However, late in the game, Vikes rookie sensation Cam Hundal of Surrey, B.C., beat three players to score the equalizer and earn a 1-1 draw.
Victoria native Elliot Mitrou earned the tie in the UVic net.
“Despite the heat and difficult conditions, I thought we did very well today and earned a well-deserved point today,” Wilson said. “To post a record of 2-0-1, it’s one of the best results we have had since we started our U.S. exhibition tours.”
The Vikes return to Victoria on Saturday and host the Vancouver Whitecaps MLS team on Sunday Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. (BUY TICKETS)
