Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Velox Valkyries continued their dominance over opponents in the Women’s Adidas Premiership with a 39-0 victory over the visiting Capilano RFC on Saturday.

The win moves Velox to the top of the standings with a 4-0 record, 5 points ahead of 3-0 Burnaby Lake, who had their game postponed due to weather.

The Valkyries have been on determined run since losing the Women’s Premier Championship Final last season to Burnaby Lake in the final seconds, unbeaten in their last 13 games and amassing a whopping 677 points for while only allowing 55 against they are a forced to be reckoned with.

This is made more impressive when you consider the team has been without the services of some of its top players due to commitments with Rugby Canada and a slew of injuries.

The rematch of last season Final is set to go on March 24 when Burnaby Lake visit Velox and if early indications prove right should be the pivotal matchup for 1st place in the standings.

Jesse Olynyk, who leads the league in trys with 6, and Jane Cruttenden, who leads in converts with 8, along with Samantha Robb (4 trys) and Marlene Donaldson (3 trys) have been the driving force of a well balanced Valkyries offence that appears unstoppable this season add to this a very stingy defence and you have the makings for another run at the Adidas Premiership’s Harris Memorial Cup in the Spring.

The Valkyries travel to the Lower Mainland next weekend to take on the 2-2 Bayside Sharks then have a two week break before facing Burnaby Lake on March 24th.
