Comox Valley RV Half Marathon Goes Sunday

Victoria, BC (ISN) – The sixth race in the Frontrunners Island Race Series – Comox Valley RV Half Marathon – takes place on Sunday, March 18 at 11 am. The race starts at Florence Filberg Centre, 411 Anderton Avenue, Courtenay. The Half Marathon is hosted by the Comox Valley Road Runners.

Runners can register online until midnight, Wednesday March 14 at www.vira.bc.ca or at Extreme Runners, 436 5th Avenue, Courtenay on Saturday March 17, from noon – 5 pm, or on race day at the Florence Filberg Centre. Race registration until March 14 is $25 for adults and $20 for students. Race day fees are $35 and $30 for students.

“With over 550 runners pre-registered for the race you will be sure to see some familiar faces as the participants strive to complete their first half marathon, aim to run a personal best or participate and complete the distance as part of their training program for a future race,” says Cathy Noel, President of the Vancouver Island Runners’ Association.

The Prairie Inn Harriers, Victoria lead the club standings with 3,157 points, followed by Comox Valley Road Runners with 1,486 and Frontrunners Athletic Club with 1,338.

Eight races make up the Frontrunners Island Race Series. Comox Valley RV Half Marathon will be followed by Merville 15K on April 1, and Sooke River 10K on April 15. Comox Valley RV Half Marathon is also part of the Timex BC Series. All races are sanctioned by BC Athletics. Registration is now online at www.vira.ba.ca Historical results from races dating back to 1980 from previous race series can be seen on www.pih.bc.ca.
