(ISN) – The UVic Vikes men’s golf team have taken the lead by ten strokes at the 2012 Cavalier Classic in Camas, Washington. The men completed four holes shy of two rounds after wet, stormy and snowy conditions delayed day one play. Second-year Carson Kallis (Red Deer, Alta.) leads the Vikes with 3-under-par on the 72-yard golf course.
The Vikes men’s team finished 6-over-par (294) after day one with Darren Hupfer (Edmonton, Alta.) and Kallis topping the leader board. Hupfer finished with an even par-72, which was good for second place.
“The teams competed in incredibly hard conditions,” explained head coach Bryan Carbery. “It was really cold and rainy but Carson was phenomenal, Darren was second in the morning with a 72 and Dylan (Cann) also played really well.”
Dylan Cann (Calgary, Alta.) finished in a three-way tie for sixth place with 2-over-par-74. Also competing for the Vikes were Samuel Holland (New Minas, NS) (T-19, 79) and James Holland (New Minas, NS) (T-34, 83).
The Vikes will finish the final four holes of round two tomorrow, Mar. 20, as well as the final and third round of the Cavalier Classic.
