Oil Kings Put Kootenay on Ice With 3-1 Win

Rhett Rachinski scored a pair of goals to lead the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings to a 3-1 win over the Kootenay Ice in Game 4 of their Husky WHL Eastern Conference quarter final series on Thursday.

The win gives the Oil Kings a 4-0 series sweep of the defending champion Ice, and moves them on to the second round of the post-season.

Mark Pysysk also scored an Henrik Samuelsson chipped in two assists for the Oil Kings, who outscored the Ice 16-7 through the four-game series.  Laurent Brossoit turned aside 14 of 15 shots he faced to claim his fourth straight win.

Drew Czerwonka scored for the Ice, who mustered just 15 shots on net in the series-ending loss.  Nathan Lieuwen, last year’s playoff MVP, stopped 24 of 27 shots in his final appearance for Kootenay.

Edmonton wins best-of-seven series 4-0
