Sooke 10K and Final Awards Go Sunday April 15

Victoria, BC (ISN) – The eighth and last race in the Frontrunners Island Race Series – Sooke 10K – takes place on Sunday, April 15 at 11 am. The race starts at Edward Milne Community School, 6218 Sooke Road. The race is hosted by the Island Road Racers Club. The race will be followed by the year-end awards for the entire series.

Runners can register online until midnight, Wednesday April 11 at www.vira.bc.ca or on race day at the Edward Milne Community School. Race registration until April 11 is $25 for adults and $20 for students. Race day fees are $35 and $30 for students.

“The Sooke 10K marks the end of the 2012 Frontrunner Island Race Series,” says Cathy Noel, President of the Vancouver Island Runners’ Association (VIRA). “The field is always a good one and I wish everyone good luck in finishing off the season strong,”

The Prairie Inn Harriers, Victoria lead the club standings with 3,789 points, followed by Comox Valley Road Runners with 2,351 and Frontrunners Athletic Club with 1,817.

All eight races in the Island Series are sanctioned by BC Athletics. Historical results from races dating back to 1980 from previous race series can be seen on www.pih.bc.ca.
