The Velox Valkyries women’s rugby team kept their unbeaten record intact with a dominating 41-0 victory over the UVic Vikes on Saturday.
The Valkyries, who have been without the services of numerous starters throughout the season due to injuries or other commitments, showed their depth again on Saturday filling the roster with call ups from the Division 2 side.

To say the club is dominating their opponents would be an understatement as they have amassed 336 points for and allowed only 28 points against in 8 games during the Spring League add to that a 9-0 record with 482 points for and 44 points against during the Fall season and one can see why they are the clear favorite going into every game they play.

Saturday’s game saw UVic come out determined to knock off the leaders and in the first half they gave the Valkyries all they could handle but were unable to break through the Valkyries defence when it counted.

Velox, who appeared to be adjusting to the new faces in the line up, did put up 19 points to head into the half time break with the lead.
Head coach Aaron Frisby seemed to get his girls motivated during the as they came out and dominated the play in the 2nd half, holding the majority of possession and putting together numerous phases offensively and the defence didn’t allow the Vikes to put anything together.

Full credit to the Vikes squad, as they fought hard to the final whistle with Stefani Hanson, who seemed to be all over the field, making numerous tackles.
