(ISN) – Curl BC is pleased to announce that the 2013 Tim Hortons BC Juvenile Curling Championships have been awarded to the Prince George Golf & Curling Club. This event will run from March 7-10, 2013.
The top eight juvenile boy’s and girl’s teams in BC will battle for these provincial titles with the winners advancing to the U-18 Optimist International Curling Championships. The Championships will be divided into two pools of four teams, with the top two teams in each advancing to playoffs.
The Prince George Curling Club dates back to 1920 and amalgamated with the Golf Club in 1973. It has 8 sheets of ice and has hosted many provincial and national tournaments such as the 2009 Road to the Roar Pre-Trials which brought some of Canada’s best curling teams to Prince George. In 1999 Prince George hosted the BC Men’s Curling Championship won by Bert Gretzinger, and in 2000 hosted the Scott Tournament of Hearts won by BC’s Kelley Law. Last season they hosted the 2011 BC Legion Curling Championship. With the recent news of Prince George hosting the 2015 Canada Winter Games they are thrilled to be awarded the 2013 Tim Hortons BC Juvenile Curling Championships.
