Victoria, BC (ISN) – The first women’s-only race to take place on Vancouver Island – the Victoria Goddess Run – has sold out. The event, which will take place on Sunday, June 3 in Langford, BC sold out in seven weeks.

The Victoria Goddess Run will consist of the Frontrunners Half-Marathon, Westhills 10k and What’s Up Media 5k starting and finishing at Langford City Parks.

The Goddess Run online registration went live on its website on March 1 and saw a surge of registrations within the first few days. The initial cap of 700 for the three races was increased to 1,500 to ensure that no one was disappointed. The Frontrunners Half-Marathon and What’s Up Media 5k will have 300 participants each, and the Westhills 10k, 900.

“We are thrilled by the response of the local goddess community and from the Lower Mainland, Alberta and as far away as Florida,” said Co-Race Director, Cathy Noel. “Unfortunately, we have many disappointed women that were not able to register before it was too late. We hope that they will mark the date for next year – Sunday, June 2 – and keep on training. It is likely we could have doubled our numbers for this year considering the feedback we received, but we wanted to make sure that every goddess going in the Inaugural Victoria Goddess Run feels special and has a memorable experience.”

The race will feature on-course surprises, unique participant gifts, entertainment and a post-run bistro-style festival. The three race routes all circle Glen Lake, with the Frontrunners Half-Marathon then heading south on the Galloping Goose Trail to Happy Valley Road and Latoria Road, winding its way down into Lagoon Road in Colwood and Ocean Boulevard. A challenging uphill towards Fort Rodd Hill is followed by another stretch on the Galloping Goose Trail before heading back to Glen Lake Road and the finish.

The Victoria Goddess Run will support four local charities: the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre, supporting women who have suffered a sexual assault; Women’s Transition House who work to help women who have suffered abuse to get the help they need to get back on their feet; ProMotion Plus who support women and girls participation in sport and physical activity; and SportAssist which supports kids participation in sport if they cannot afford it.

The Victoria Goddess Run is looking for volunteers in many areas. Gods and Goddesses many apply! For more information email
