The 2012 Doyle Cup shifts to the South Okanagan Events Centre for Game 3 Tuesday night after the Penticton Vees won both games in Alberta to take a 2-0 lead in on the Brooks Bandits the best-of-seven series.

Game 1 on Friday saw the Vees score twice on the power play and once shorthanded in a 7-2 win in front of a packed Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks. Captain Logan Johnston scored twice while Mario Lucia scored a goal and added three helpers. The only goal in Game 2 on Saturday came off the stick of Wade Murphy on the man advantage as Penticton hung on for a 1-0 triumph.

Michael Garteig, who had missed the entire postseason due to injury, returned to the crease Saturday and made 43 saves to earn the shutout after replacement Chad Katunar was sidelined.

Lucia’s four points from Game 1 leads all scorers while Murphy and Bryce Gervais were the only players to register points in both games.

The remainder of the series will be played in Penticton with Game 3 set for Tuesday night in a 7 p.m. faceoff. A capacity crowd is expected as fans were lining up at the South Okanagan Events Centre for tickets Monday morning.
