Kamloops, BC (ISN) – Fans of the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team get four more chances to see their team before the Canadian College Baseball Conference regular season comes to a close.  The WolfPack will entertain the University of Calgary Dinos and the Vancouver Island Baseball Academy  Mariners for four games at Norbrock Stadium starting on Friday, April 27th.

The ‘Pack enter the weekend second in the CCBC Chris Reitsma Division with an 11 and 9 record. Calgary is third with a 5 and 9 record while Vancouver Island is in the basement of the Larry Walker Division at 9 and 11.

This year in head to head meetings, VIBI has a 3 and 1 record against Thompson Rivers. The WolfPack are 4 and 0 against Calgary.

The weekend will feature some of the CCBC’s top hitters.

WolfPack catcher/first baseman David Hole (Vancouver, BC) leads the league in hitting with an average of 403. He is also second in home runs with five and second in runs batted in with 21.  Teammate Alex Condon (third base/designated hitter, Victoria, BC)  leads the CCBC in home runs with seven and runs batted in with 23.

Cody Andreychuk of VIBI (Infielder, Nanaimo, BC) is second in hitting percentage at .375 and third in runs batted in with 15.  He is third in home runs as well with four.

Levi Kerns (1st base, Victoria, BC) of TRU is third in batting average at .342.

The weekend will also see some of the league’s best pitchers in action.  Denver Wynn (RHP, Kamloops, BC) is second in the CCBC in wins (4), third in strikeouts (39) and fifth in earned run average (2.25)

Connor Russell (RHP, Victoria, BC) of V.I.B.I. leads the league in strikeouts (47) and is second in earned run average (1.22).

Cam Strachan (LHP, Trail, BC) of the WolfPack is fourth in wins (3) while Cody Chartrand of VIBI (RHP, Naniamo) is fourth in the CCBC in strikeouts (36).

The WolfPack play Calgary Friday, April 27 th at 6 pm and Saturday, April 28 th at 1 pm.  They tangle with VIBI on  Saturday, April 28 th at 7 pm and Sunday April 29 th at 12:30 pm.

Crowds are expected to be a little bigger this weekend at Norbrock since Kamloops Minor Baseball has their icebreaker tournament going on this weekend.

Thompson Rivers will close out the 2012 CCBC regular season next weekend (May 5-6) in Kelowna, BC against Okanagan College and VIBI.  They will host the CCBC Championship Tournament at Norbrock Stadium on May 10-13 th.
