(ISN) – The Penticton Vees are ready to add another chapter to an historic season and represent the BCHL at the RBC Cup which begins Saturday, May 5 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.

It’s the fourth-straight year the BCHL has had a team in the RBC Cup following three consecutive appearances by the Vernon Vipers. This is the first time the Vees have competed for a national title since 1986 when they won the Centennial Cup.

Penticton qualified for this year’s RBC Cup by defeating the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Brooks Bandits in the Doyle Cup which concluded April 28.

Penticton is the Pacific Region representative at the tournament. The four other teams are the Humboldt Broncos (host team), Portage Terriers (West Region), Soo Thunderbirds (Central Region) and Woodstock Slammers (East Region).

A round-robin portion will be held to eliminate one team. The four remaining clubs will face off in the semifinals which will be held Saturday, May 12. The championship final will be played Sunday, May 13 and will be televised on TSN.

The Vees’ RBC Cup round-robin schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday, May 5 Soo Thunderbirds vs. Penticton 2 p.m. Pacific
