Fireworks to Highlight Princess & Pirate Night at Western Speedway


Victoria (ISN) – This Saturday Night Western Speedway will host the popular Princess and Pirate Night, that will feature Demo Cars, Demo Trucks, Bombers, Mini Figure 8’s highlighted by the Crazy Boat Races and a Spectacular Fireworks Show at 4/10ths mile paved oval located in Langford.

In the popular Bomber Champion Sean Staniforth will be looking to make it two feature wins in a row after a last lap pass on Aaron Cameron to take the win on opening night. Staniforth came back for the victory after mistakenly getting the black flag early in the race for breaking the 20 second rule. Tyler Woods who earlier in the evening hit the wall qualifying came back to finish third followed by Mark Lockhart and Chris Stone.

The exciting Mini Figure 8 class will see if the Young boys can repeat this Saturday Night as they stole the show at the opener. Brothers Shawn and Cody Young swept the top two spots with Garrett Dougan finishing third with 2011 Champion Kyle Rizok in fourth and Rhett Szevies rounding out the top five.

In The Demo Car class Robin Trottier will be looking to repeat his clean sweep at opening night, Trottier won the Trophy Dash, Heat Race and the Main Event at the May 5th event. Fellow drivers Kirk Peacey, Cody Young and Joe Liberatore will all be challenging Trottier for the win.

Demo Truck action should see Kenny Baker and George Haywood once again will battle it out for first place along with Cody Sadler.

The next event at Western Speedway will be Saturday May 26th as Richlock Rentals presents the popular WILROC Non Winged Sprint Cars as well as the Island Series Stock Cars, Old Time Racers and Dwarf Cars.

The front gates open at 4:30 pm, qualifying at 5:30 and racing at 6:30 pm.
